Tech
Requirements

What your car — and you — need to pass tech and hit the track at SSR drift events.

01 Vehicle Inspection

  • Drivers/passengers must wear a shirt, closed-toe shoes, and shorts/pants. No tank tops or shirtless drivers.
  • Fire suits are highly recommended.
  • Eye protection required — helmet shield or safety glasses.
  • Helmets required — SNELL/DOT SA2020/MA2020 minimum. 2015-rated helmets are no longer acceptable.
  • Correctly routed harnesses/seatbelts. Harnesses only permitted with a harness bar or roll cage — no floor bolting.
  • Batteries must be secured with legitimate tie-downs or battery boxes. No ratchet straps or bungee cords.
  • All vehicles must have a fire extinguisher securely mounted within driver reach — zero exceptions. Two extinguishers highly recommended.
  • At least 1 tow hook or bash bar required.
  • Drift karts or truck builds must be pre-approved before the event.

02 Engine Bay

  • No major visible fluid leaks — oil, coolant, power steering, or fuel.
  • No loose items in the engine bay.
  • Water + additive (e.g. Water Wetter) is the only coolant allowed. We will check. Glycol-based coolant found in your system means you are responsible for flushing and disposal on-site. Do not dump it anywhere on the property.
  • Fluid overflow cans recommended for power steering and coolant.
  • Heat shields and absorbent socks over fluid reservoirs are highly recommended.

03 Wheels, Brakes & Suspension

  • Brakes and clutch must be in good working order.
  • Handbrakes — stock or hydraulic — are highly recommended for this track.
  • All lug nuts must be present and tight — zero exceptions.

04 Exhaust

  • No current sound limit. Mufflers highly recommended but not required.

05 Interior & Electrical

  • Trans tunnels may be modified but must be sealed and attached to the body.
  • No loose items inside the vehicle.
  • Seatbelts/harness must be in good shape and working order. Out-of-date harnesses acceptable if in good condition.
  • Harnesses not permitted with factory seats not designed for them — at tech team discretion.
  • Racing/aftermarket seats must be securely mounted with all hardware — zero exceptions. No major cracks.
  • Interior and exterior lights permitted. Night drifting is on — go crazy with the lights.

06 Exterior & Chassis

  • No loose body panels while drifting. Doors, trunks, hoods, and hatches must be securely fastened. Bumpers may use quick-release systems.
  • At minimum, 1 working brake light required.
  • Night driving: at least 1 working running light and 1 working headlight required.
  • Lexan windows permitted and must be secured. Driver/passenger side windows not required. Windshields and rear glass are required.
  • Windshields must not be overly cracked — full top-to-bottom, side-to-side cracks will not pass. Tech team has final discretion.
  • Majority of body panels required (doors, fenders). Bumpers not required with aftermarket bash bars.
  • Exterior kill switches not required but highly recommended.
  • Kart-type builds require prior approval.

07 Roll Cages

  • Formula Drift Pro-Am regulations recommended. SCCA, NASA, and other series cages acceptable.
  • Minimum 4-point chassis mounting. Bolt-in cages acceptable.
  • At least 1 door bar per side required.
  • Convertibles without a roll bar are not permitted to carry passengers.

08 Pits, Track & Event Rules

  • You are responsible for your mess — trash, fluid spills, and tires. Take your tires with you.
  • Do not discard car parts or other items on the property. We have cameras.
  • Irresponsible behavior — burnouts outside the track surface, excessive speeding, endangering spectators or staff — will result in removal from the property and potential ban from future events.
